Employment & Educations Membership

Regional Destribution

With many of the G20 countries witnessing increasing numbers of youth neither in education nor employment or training, the main policy challenge is to develop policies which can help to increase participation in the workforce, and to foster the skills and education necessary to prevail in today’s fast-paced international market place. Especially for vulnerable groups entry to the formal labour market needs to be promoted and the regulatory framework needs to be adapted so as to allow a better transition from informal to formal employment.

Furthermore, future changes in the working environment, such as technological developments or demographic changes will need to be considered.

Recent discussions also show the concern of increasing sustainability in global supply chains. In this context, working conditions have to be improved for all employees in production countries, including those that are not part of a global supply chain, and a safe work environment needs to be created for all.

The three priorities of 1) open, dynamic and inclusive labour markets, 2) shaping the future of work and 3) addressing working conditions in global supply chains will be addressed by the B20 Germany Task Force “Employment and Education”, which includes business leaders, employers’ associations and educational institutions.
