I had the honor to co-chair the Cross thematic B20 Group on Responsible Business Conduct & Anti-Corruption Group. It worked very well under the German responsibility. The 2017 Policy paper for “Promoting Integrity by Creating Opportunities for Responsible Businesses” includes concrete recommendations to the G20 governments. We wish that the G20 countries really take them into consideration and implement them in order to combat more effectively the poverty, waste of resources and erosion of trust inherent to corruption.
In particular, Business is a key partner when it comes to combatting the demand side of bribery. We would like to continue to work closely with the G20 members on the improvement of this issue. We have also underlined the importance of supporting voluntary self-disclosure and the recognition of effective anti-corruption and compliance systems.
